Ms. Marybeth Jacobsen is president of the Workforce Education Coalition (WEC) in Simi Valley, Calif., a nonprofit foundation she created in 2015. Its mission is to build partnerships and collaborations among educational institutions and businesses to foster a skilled workforce. Formerly, she was the government relations manager at the Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce. She designed and implemented chamber/city joint corporate programs to establish student vocational tours and STEM teacher externships. She earned her J.D. at the University of Illinois College of Law and practiced law in Illinois and California for 20 years. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois, graduating Magna Cum Laude with High Distinction in the Curriculum, and holds a teaching certificate for grades 6-12. Her contributions to the community are extensive, with a focus on furthering CTE and developing a strong workforce. She was awarded for an exceptional program in business/school partnership for workforce development by the Western Association of Chamber Executives Workforce Development Program. |
