As local citizens, our governing board members have a responsibility to the students and the community at-large for providing a high quality choice in education for all youth who are unable to participate in the traditional school model.
Each member of our independently governed, non-profit charter school governing board contributes a depth of experience in areas such as education, business, finance, and community development. Each member is especially passionate about improving the lives of young people and helping establish them as confident, educated, skillful, and civic-minded citizens of their community.
Randell Lawrence
Mr. Randell Lawrence serves as vice president of S.L. Leonard & Associates, an owner’s representation and project/construction management company based in Camarillo. From concept to occupancy, Mr. Lawrence has nearly 40 years of construction expertise and has used that knowledge to manage several affordable housing projects in Oxnard, Ventura and Thousand Oaks. Mr. Lawrence attended California State University, Northridge and majored in Psychology.
Victoria Hancock
For over 20 years, Ms. Victoria Hancock oversaw the City of Palmdale’s City Clerk Department in which she was responsible for overseeing all city elections for mayor, city council and measures in addition to being the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder and FPPC contact for all candidates. Ms. Hancock has served as a substitute teacher at Palmdale School District, and held board CEO for MACRO Homes, a group home for girls in L.A. County. Her passion over the past several years has been to serve on non-profit education boards whose mission is to serve the neediest of youth and to provide opportunities to this underserved population. Ms. Hancock is a frequent volunteer with the local elementary school and is an active HOA member who participates in board meetings and community events. Ms. Hancock has resided in Ventura County for 13 years.
Marybeth Jacobsen
Ms. Marybeth Jacobsen is president of the Workforce Education Coalition (WEC) in Simi Valley, Calif., a nonprofit foundation she created in 2015. Its mission is to build partnerships and collaborations among educational institutions and businesses to foster a skilled workforce. Formerly, she was the government relations manager at the Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce. She designed and implemented chamber/city joint corporate programs to establish student vocational tours and STEM teacher externships. She earned her J.D. at the University of Illinois College of Law and practiced law in Illinois and California for 20 years. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois, graduating Magna Cum Laude with High Distinction in the Curriculum, and holds a teaching certificate for grades 6-12. Her contributions to the community are extensive, with a focus on furthering CTE and developing a strong workforce. She was awarded for an exceptional program in business/school partnership for workforce development by the Western Association of Chamber Executives Workforce Development Program.
Ernie Villegas
Mr. Ernie Villegas is the owner of Villegas Public Affairs, the President of the Fillmore Association of Business (FAB), and a Board member of the Fillmore-Piru Veterans Memorial District. Mr. Villegas was the special projects manager for the City of Fillmore until 2022. Other board positions he holds include El Concilio Family Services in Oxnard, Santa Clara Valley Boys & Girls Club, Workforce Education Coalition and the Economic Development Collaborative of Ventura County (EDC-VC). Mr. Villegas has more than 30 years of public/private sector advocacy experience. From 2010-2014, he served as the district director for state Assemblyman Jeff Gorell, held senior partner for the public affairs company Paladin Principle LLC, and is a 30-year veteran as the public affairs manager for Southern California Edison. Villegas has served the City of Fillmore as planning commissioner, and parks and recreation commissioner before serving as mayor and councilman from 2002-2006. His abounding board service to business and service organizations demonstrates his action and solution-oriented character to his community. Ernie has lived in Fillmore for over 45 years with his wife Christine.
